Digital Storytelling 101 [Past Event]

Due to demand we are running a second Digital Storytelling workshop for those who missed out on a spot in the 23 February workshop.

Learn the basics of creating a digital story for an exhibition or online content. Using digitised WW1 photographs from the Shrine of Remembrance, participants will learn to use Sony Movie Studio software to create a photo story with recorded narration and music. Presented in Collaboration with The Channel, Arts Centre Melbourne.

Disaster Preparedness Planning for Community Museums [Past Event]

In this full day workshop specifically for volunteers at community museums, learn about common collection disasters, why we have disaster preparedness plans, what's in a disaster preparedness plan, and what to do in the event of a disaster in your museum. The workshop will consist of a morning lecture covering the above-mentioned topics, followed by an afternoon practical session on disaster recovery.

Workshop content will be delivered by Noni Zachri, Paper and Photographs Conservator at the University of Melbourne Grimwade Centre for Cultural Materials Conservation. Generously supported by the National Library of Australia's Community Heritage Grants program.

Victorian Collections Cataloguing Workshop – Melbourne [Past Event]

This hands-on workshop provides an introduction to the principles of digitisation and collection management. Participants will learn how to catalogue collection items using the free, online, and custom-built Victorian Collections cataloguing system.  

The workshop offers a relaxed and open environment and caters for participants with any degree of museum and computer literacy. Ongoing cataloguing support is available for community museums and small and medium collections.

Morning tea and lunch are provided. Please advise of any dietary requirements when booking.

Off the Shelf: Making Storage Work for You [Past Event]
