ENVI Presents: Traveller’s Tales
Wed 28 Nov, 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Back by popular demand, ENVI presents The Traveller’s Tales.
Join Rachael Cottle and Kimberley Moulton for a bit of vicarious travel and an insider’s view of museum collections and storytelling. Both of these intrepid travellers are very familiar with the wonders of the back of house of museums. Their talks will be followed by an exclusive viewing of the Mandela, My Life exhibition which provides a fascinating journey through Mandela’s early life, activism, incarceration and then emergence as the first Black president of South Africa. There will be plenty to discuss over a glass of wine and nibbles.
Rachael Cottle works at the Chinese Museum and is a volunteer assistant curator at Museums Victoria. In July 2017 Rachel participated in the Open Palace Programme in England. The programme is an opportunity for emerging museum professionals to spend twenty days travelling around England visiting palaces, museums and heritage sites gaining skills and guidance from experts in the field. During her presentation Rachael will share her travel experiences with a particular focus on education in museums.
Kimberley Moulton is a Yorta Yorta woman writer and curator & currently Senior Curator South Eastern Aboriginal Collections, Museums Victoria. Kimberley is the Museums Victoria co-curator for the world touring exhibition Mandela: My Life, the official exhibition celebrating the life of Nelson Mandela. Kimberley and the Museums Victoria team worked closely with the Nelson Mandela Foundation and producers iEC exhibitions and TEG Live in the development of the exhibition, travelling to South Africa several times in the process.
